A Family Legacy of Trusted Legal Guidance
Since 1977, McInturff Law Firm has built a legacy of trust, integrity, and family-focused service in Northeast Tennessee and the Appalachian Highlands. Our firm combines extensive legal expertise with genuine care, ensuring every client feels valued and supported.
Founded in 1977 by Carl McInturff, our firm began as a solo practice committed to serving the region where our family has lived and worked for nine generations. Carl’s dedication and passion inspired his daughter, Christy, who joined the firm, and together they established McInturff Law Firm over two decades ago.
This father-daughter team blends decades of legal experience to provide personalized, knowledgeable counsel across real estate, estate planning, probate, and business law. For us, serving our clients goes beyond work—it’s our calling to support our neighbors and friends through life’s milestones.

For more than five decades, I have been grateful for the opportunity to serve individuals, families, and businesses throughout Northeast Tennessee. Since becoming a licensed Tennessee attorney in 1974, I have focused my practice on real estate law, title examination, and real estate closings, as well as estate planning, probate, and business matters. It has been a privilege to help generations of clients across our region navigate important decisions with confidence and peace of mind.
I am a graduate of Tennessee High School, Carson–Newman University, and the University of Tennessee College of Law. Before entering private practice, I served as an attorney in Washington, D.C., with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where I gained valuable experience in banking and regulatory law. I also had the privilege of teaching real estate law for approximately ten years as a member of the adjunct faculty at Milligan University. As a licensed title insurance agent, I represent Fidelity National Title Insurance Company and Westcor Land Title Insurance Company.
My commitment to service extends well beyond the practice of law. I am a longtime member and Distinguished Past President of the Johnson City Kiwanis Club, a Past President of the Washington County Bar Association, a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, and a fifty-year member of the American Bar Association. I also served as Co-President of the Liberty Bell Middle School PTSA, was an original member of the Washington County Foster Care Review Board, and continue to serve on the Dawn of Hope Board of Directors.
As founder of McInturff Law Firm, I am deeply grateful for the trust our clients have placed in us over the years. It is a true privilege to continue our firm's longstanding tradition of service, working alongside my daughter, Christy, to assist families, businesses, and property owners throughout East Tennessee.
Outside the office, I enjoy golfing and especially treasure spending time with my children and teenage grandchildren, cheering them on as they participate in sports and other extracurricular activities.

At three years old, I proudly announced I'd become a "lawler," just like my dad, Carl—even if I didn't quite know how to pronounce it yet. But I saw how much he enjoyed his work, and isn't that what it's all about?
Born and raised in Johnson City, I'm deeply connected to our community. After graduating from Science Hill High School, where I enjoyed choir and musical theater, I attended Carson-Newman College as a proud third-generation Cum Laude graduate, double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. A memorable semester interning in Washington, D.C., quickly confirmed my heart belonged in Northeast Tennessee. I later earned my law degree from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama, where on day one, I met my husband (ironically, a Dobyns-Bennett High graduate from neighboring Kingsport).
I've been practicing law alongside my father for over 20 years, but my unofficial legal training started at age fifteen, answering phones and filing papers at Dad's office. Today, we continue to share an experienced, thoughtful, unified approach to serving our clients.
My family and I are members of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, where I previously served on the Board of Directors. I currently serve as President of the Johnson City Kiwanis Club and sit on the Kiwanis Northeast Tennessee Children's Charitable Foundation Board. I was also recently appointed to the Johnson City Public Schools Foundation Board. Professionally, I have served on two Probate Transition Committees for the First Judicial District. I'm also a member and Past President of the Washington County Bar Association, and hold memberships in the Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) and the American Land Title Association (ALTA). Additionally, I'm a licensed title insurance agent representing Fidelity National Title Insurance Company and Westcor Land Title Insurance Company.
Outside the office, I'm a full-time mom to our lively teenage daughter, secretly hoping she might join our legal family one day. In my downtime, you'll find me reading, enjoying time with family and friends, volunteering at my daughter's school, or golfing—though admittedly, I'm the least skilled golfer in our family!

I’m often one of the first friendly faces you’ll see when you visit our office, and I’m happy to be someone who can make you feel welcome and help point you in the right direction.
I’ve been part of the McInturff Law Firm team for almost 25 years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside our attorneys and staff for so many years.
My role as a legal assistant allows me to help keep things organized behind the scenes and assist our attorneys and clients throughout the day. I take pride in being dependable, paying attention to the details, and helping make sure our office runs as smoothly as possible while always respecting the importance of confidentiality.
Before joining the McInturff Law Firm, I spent many years working at the Washington Farmers Co-op, where I had the opportunity to get to know so many people in our community. It has been especially nice to see some of those familiar faces again over the years, now as clients of our office.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My greatest joy is my grandchildren, and I love supporting them and cheering them on in their many activities. My church and my faith are also an important part of my life, and I’m thankful for the people and relationships that continue to make our community feel like home.

My name is Susan Skeen, and my life has been shaped by faith, family, compassion, and a desire to help others. I believe that some of the most meaningful accomplishments in life are not measured by recognition, but by the kindness we show and the lives we touch along the way.
I attended Science Hill High School from 1977 to 1981, where I built friendships, learned valuable life lessons, and developed the foundation for many of the values that have guided me throughout life. Those years were an important chapter in shaping my character and future.
Family has always been at the center of who I am. My roots run deep in Tennessee, where I learned the values of hard work, loyalty, and caring for others. Those lessons have guided me through every stage of life and helped shape the person I have become.
I have always believed in giving back whenever possible, especially in ways that support children and families facing difficult times. Causes such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital represent the kind of hope and compassion I deeply admire.
People who know me would likely say that I am dependable, caring, and someone who values genuine relationships. I try to bring warmth, encouragement, and understanding wherever I go.
My story is still being written each day through family, friendships, and the small acts of kindness that matter most. I am grateful for the life I have lived and for every opportunity to make a positive difference.

Patty McInturff
Office Manager
Patty Brooks McInturff was a beloved pillar of the McInturff family and a foundational presence in the life of the firm. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and trusted colleague, Patty brought warmth, organization, and unwavering support to the practice and to all who knew her.
Born and raised in the region, Patty grew up active in her church and community, cultivating a spirit of service and connection early in life. She and Carl McInturff met as teenagers, beginning a lifelong partnership that would span more than five decades.... Following their marriage in 1975, Patty balanced work, family, and community involvement with grace and dedication.
After graduating from Virginia Intermont College, Patty worked for the Energy Research and Development Administration in Washington, D.C., and later for East Tennessee State University. She then devoted more than 40 years to the McInturff law practice as Office Manager and Bookkeeper, where her meticulous attention to detail and genuine care for clients helped shape the firm's culture and success.
Patty was deeply involved in her children's schools and activities, serving in leadership roles within local PTAs and supporting countless events and programs. Her favorite title of all, however, was "Nana"—a role she cherished, supporting her grandchildren in every interest and endeavor.
Her community involvement, loving spirit, and steadfast commitment to family and service left an enduring mark on those around her. Patty's legacy continues through the work of the firm and the many lives she touched with kindness, dedication, and joy.
